I have 4 gallons of it laying around in my kitchen (since I live alone I’m allowed to keep fuel filters, refrigerant, and gallons of coolant on my kitchen counter.)

The GTO is laying in pieces around the body shop and I’m already going over to replace a belt tensioner, figure I’ll put in a new thermostat and flush out the block and put some new coolant in...and I have this coolant room temp and ready to go.

I know some worship at the altar of Dexcool but I’m not convinced.

“I know some worship at the altar of Dexcool”

Really?

Really ??

I’d rather pump the generic Ethylene Glycol out of one our boilers and use it as-is than touch Dex-Cool. Too many bad memories.

I know, I’ve heard some people say to stick with whatever the factory put in but...Dexcool is pretty controversial. I figure the Zerex is good stuff and if it works in the Ford 4.6L then it should work fine in the LS1.

So sounds like I should flush the block and rad before refilling then.

Zerex g05 is excellent stuff. Phosphate free, safe for aluminum and all that jazz

Zerex or oem are pretty much the only things I’ll put in my cooling systems, although straight propylene glycol (ala Evans) has been intriguing to me.
